21,179 Civilians Killed In Syria In 2015![]() The Syrian Network For Human Rights (SNHR) reports the death toll for the year 2015, concluding an estimated 21,179 civilians were killed by the main influential parties in Syria. The causalities include 3443 children and 2,615 women. The two main parties killings were the Syrian Regime with 12,044 civilians killed, and ISIS killing 1366 civilians.
Regime forces were responsible for the killing of 15,748 individuals, including 2592 children and 1957 women. The Regime tortured and killed no less than 1546 individuals, including 546 civilians. Torture continues in mass despite the launch of the Cesar Report in 2014 exposing torture in Assad's underground hospitals. ISIS had the second highest death toll in Syria in 2015, killing 1,366 civilians including 149 children and 188 women. ISIS has also reportedly tortured a total of 8 people until they died. In 2015, the Russian forces have made a large appearance in Syrian Regime active areas. In this year alone, the Russian forces killed 832 people, including 199 children and 109 women. Russia has focused it sights on Aleppo killing 167 people within the city alone. The SNHR urges the Security Council to take additional measures as a year has passed since the adoption of the resolution 2139. They also take note that Russia, Iran and Lebanon have continued to flow weaponry into Syria to aid the Syrian Regime, who is committing human rights violations. |
